What’s your sign?

Horoscopes are more accurate than believed

Born anywhere from May 21 to June 20, Geminis are known to be gentle, curious and indecisive. The symbol Gemini is a pair twins, which relates perfectly since Geminis do not like to be alone.

One thing that every person has in common is that they have an astrological sign. No matter a person’s standpoint on zodiac signs, there are 12 signs that make up the zodiac: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagitarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. These signs all individually relate to a certain period of the year, thus determining what a person’s astrological sign is. When a person is born, their astrological sign is what constellation was most visible in the night sky the day of their birth. For example, if a person’s birthday falls between Aug. 22 and Sep. 22, that person is a Virgo, also known as “the maiden.” As false and widely-relatable as each zodiac sign’s traits may be to different individuals, there is also factuality in them as well.

Previous to the 2000s, a popular saying to someone as a pick-up line was “what’s your sign?” This is because every sign has specific traits that relate to the individual’s personality. There are different signs that are supposed to work best with each other and some that are supposed to clash. As an example, an Aries could be extremely compatible with a Leo but  absolutely despise a Taurus. This can be a result of an Aries being known as a ”get up and go” type of sign and a Taurus wanting some time to at least slow down and spend some time secluded.

As these descriptions can be related to just about any person, astrological signs can tend to pinpoint a person’s personality extremely well. On social media, different accounts are created to highlight zodiac horoscopes to the different astrological signs. Some accounts, on a more serious note, tend to post daily horoscopes along with another astrological sign a person is most likely to connect with on that specific day, the overall mood of the day, a lucky number, the color for the day and a lucky time of the day. Although not always accurate, most of these horoscopes have been accurate for many people and even foreshadowing possible events. More popularly followed are zodiac meme accounts. These accounts post pictures of the signs and things they will most likely relate to and be able to laugh about.

Other apps have also been created to give the most accurate horoscope possible. An app called “Co-Star” asks specific information about a person’s birthday to get the most accurate horoscope possible. Information can include birthday, time of birth and day of the week born on. This app is extremely meticulous with each and every horoscope, so a person gets the best representation of their day.

Astrological signs can also give a person’s character traits on a larger scale. Zodiac signs are organized into four different element categories. The air signs, being Aquarius, Gemini and Libra, are often leaders in society based on their intellectual orientation and tend to be rational. Water signs are Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio, as they are the most intuitive signs and can be mysterious at times. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius make up fire signs and tend to be rebellious but highly creative. Lastly, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn make up the Earth signs, as they are comforting, grounded people.

In today’s society, horoscopes and astrological signs have made an insane comeback in popularity. Although some people might believe these claims about horoscopes and traits based on a person’s astrological sign is false, they can be truthfully accurate. No matter a person’s sign, they are destined to agree with their astrological sign’s traits and how they relate to them. Through memes, horoscope apps and different social media pages, astrological signs are a great way to get to know yourself better.
