We're all in this together: Students need to appreciate each other’s hard work

Whether it’s a club or sport or event within the high school, people work very hard to accomplish their goals. From practicing for a big game to producing an entire product; students make an effort to succeed. However, some are left feeling like ‘unsung heroes’ after not being recognized for their dedication or effort put into a certain activity.

“I think it’s important to realize that students don’t have to be on a sports team to be hard workers deserving of recognition. The thing is, people have no way to see this because they aren’t in the ‘circle of planning’,” Sophomore Madeline Kiefer said.

For example, the officers who hold positions of the different clubs at Freedom take a tremendous amount of time to plan everything. The students who are involved with the club will often overlook the amount of time and dedication that the officers put into the club. In most cases, these people are ignored.

The presidents’ of all of the clubs and organizations that we have at FHS work very hard to organize all of the events that go on within the school. They spend a lot of their time scheduling different meetings, practices and they work hard to promote the success of their specified club.

“All of the officers put a tremendous amount of time and effort into planning fun, helpful lessons for photography club members. Our main goal is to learn something every meeting and have fun doing so,” Senior Kayleigh Roberts said

Club officers aren’t the only ones who are overlooked. There are plenty of sport games throughout FHS that no one goes to or there’s very little support from the students. If you are one of these people, there are a lot of things to make you aware and change your attitude. The athletes go out of their way to train hard and accomplish a winning season, but no one even shows up to recognize them or the hard work they put out. This applies not only for sport teams, but also for public school events. Recognizing your fellow classmates could highly benefit their overall performance.

There are a great amount of ‘unsung heros’ located throughout the school. They work very hard for their fellow students and to make sure the school looks good. But many people don’t recognize these people and take great advantage of them. If you know someone who has been dedicated and works above and beyond for a club, sport or are just a hard worker in general, make sure you let them know that they are doing a great job. They deserve every bit of recognition they can get and the encouragement could go a long way. Try to show your appreciation for your school, teachers and classmates for all their hard work.
