On Jan. 20, President Donald Trump was inaugurated and, in that time of being in office, he has made 11 executive orders and seven memorandums.
The first executive order is the making of the patient-protection plan like Affordable Care Act but not the same thing this act which was made by former president Barrack Obama is now in pending of approval to repeal. On Jan. 23, the first memorandum that Trump had signed restricted the funding to nongovernmental organizations that are for family planning and abortion like Planned Parenthood. On Jan. 24, the memorandum was reversed and now gives aid to the nonprofit organizations. Without this funding, the cost for a woman to have an abortion is $475. All of the equipment that the clinic needs costs around $3,575. The second executive order which was announced on Jan. 24, which focused on the regulations on the environmental reviews and approval for high-profile projects. This means that any companies that are required to do an analysis of the land for environmental reasons should work on these projects with the utmost efficiency to get these projects completed.
The third executive order that Trump has signed was the Border Security and Immigration Enforcement including the suspension of the seven Middle Eastern countries (Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Iran and Somalia). Syria was banned indefinitely while the remaining six were suspended for 120 days. This ban is now on pause because Judge James L. Robart, a federal judge from Western District of Washington, called it unconstitutional. This executive order is under investigation for violating the people’s rights and will go to court this executive order is currently still under investigation.
The fourth executive order was about enhancing public safety. This executive order focuses on the safety of the public and the police with safer equipment such as military grade gear in uniform and weapons such as bayonets, military grenade launchers and track armored vehicles.
The sixth executive order that Trump has signed is the revision of the Keystone XL pipeline on Jan. 24. This will continue the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Nebraska through South Dakota and Montana into Alberta, Canada. This pipeline causes debates because the Standing Rock Sioux believes that this extension of the pipeline will taint their water and disturb sacred burial sites. This executive order overturns major decisions that former President BarackObama has made against this pipeline. This pipeline will carry tar, sand and crude oil. Trump is renegotiating the deal with this pipeline with the Tribal Council of the Standing Rock Sioux.
The seventh executive order that Trump has signed is the revision of the Dakota Access Pipeline which like the Keystone XL pipeline which is also running through the Standing Rock Sioux tribal lands. This pipeline will not be negotiated since it was nearly complete and will continue construction until it is complete.
These are Trump’s most important executive orders that he has signed in the three weeks of being in office.
