‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ deservedly breaks records

Major spoilers ahead

As in one of the best scenes of the movie, all three Peter Parker’s share a hug goodbye.

The biggest movie of the year, Spider-Man No Way Home (NWH), hit movie theaters on Dec. 16, 2021. No Way Home is the third movie in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy. After the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019, fans have been waiting eagerly for this movie for two years. With that two year gap, fans had a lot of time to get their theories and hopes up for this movie.

The first major fan theory that had been proven correct was Matt Murdock (Daredevil), who would finally officially be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil was a Marvel TV show that was originally a Netflix TV series that was produced by Marvel, but he was never officially brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). When Peter was having legal troubles after his identity was revealed, Matt was brought into the movie by being his lawyer. This part of the movie had people going insane in theaters because Daredevil is a fan favorite.Spider-Man: NWH helped Holland’s Spider-Man get the storyline that all fans have wanted from him for years. Fans have always thought that his Spider-Man was always handed everything because of the connection he had with Tony Stark, however, this movie really showed the trials and tribulations that show what it takes to be Spider-Man. There were 2 major issues that made viewers realize the problems Peter faces as Spider-Man. The first one was the loss of his Aunt May about half way through the movie. Aunt May was trying to protect Peter from Green Goblin when Green Goblin’s glider stabbed her in the back, inevitably leading to her death. After both Andrew Garfield’s and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man lost their Uncle Bens’, fans were kind of expecting this to happen, but it did not lessen the amount of tears. Aunt May was the only family Peter had left, so the audience felt the heartbreak for him. The second thing that had every fan crying in the cinemas was the ending to the movie. To get rid of the villains, Spider-Man and Dr. Strange decided that the only way to send them back to the proper universe was by making everyone forget who Peter Parker was. So his girlfriend, his best friend and the only other few people that knew him to begin with, would have no memories of him. This left fans heartbroken knowing that he is still a kid, and he has to fight everything by himself now. But, this also brought joy to some fans now knowing that Holland is finally getting the Spider-Man storyline that they have always wanted.

The reason fans believe this movie was so big is because of the return of the villains from Garfield’s and Maguire’s movies. Three villains returned from Maguire’s universe and two from Garfield’s. This led to fans running to theaters to see this movie just to see some of their childhood favorites again. The return of the villains, though, led to the biggest fan theory about this entire movie: Maguire and Garfield returning to the big screen as Spider-Man again in the MCU. And about half way through the movie, the theory was proven right. As soon as they were seen on screen, fans were standing up out of their seats, screaming and clapping their hands. After they were brought onto screen, all three Spider-Men teamed up to cure all of the villains and send them home to their universes.

Spider-Man No Way home is one of the highest rating Marvel movies ever. It is definitely a favorite for fans of the MCU. This movie had made its way into a lot of people’s hearts and gave fans a lot of hope for the future of the MCU.
