Shooting for success
A look into the new season for boys basketball
As fall is coming to a close and winter is making its way into the world, the sports begin to change as well as the weather. The boys basketball team is now on the roll into their new season with high hopes as they look forward to a bright season.
Every team has their goals, whether it’s the goals they set for themselves or goals their coach sets, they are always there. Without question every team wants to win every game they play, with the new season in the future they still have high chances of making their playoffs.
“Our only goal this season is to win the next game; we’re trying not to look too far into the future. Our goal is to come to practice every day and get better to win the next game,” head coach Jeffrey Griffith said.
One major difference this season will be the change of the boys varsity coach. The team will now be coached by Griffith has high hopes for the team this school year.
“What I’m looking forward to the most this year, at least from the JV coach to the head coach, is being able to plan practice every day and have a little more decision making. I like that part of it, but overall I think I look forward most of all is to go to practice and get to work with the guys like I have in the past,” Griffith said.
Although the players have lost members of their team from last year, they have also had some additions this year. With Griffith becoming the new head coach, the players will have a new way to prepare for their games. As each year goes on, a new game plan is set to strive to be the best and win as many games as possible.
“One of the changes we have this year is when we run into offense this year, that’ll look a little different. While on the defensive end, we’ll probably see us play more man to man defense than we have in the past,” Griffith said.
Looking into this new season there will be changes whether it be the team members they lost, the coaches that have moved up or the overall game plan for the season to come.
