Rocking around Beaver County

Rocks have been hidden around Beaver County to keep positive attitudes

Over the summer, there has been a craze about painted rocks being discovered in Beaver County and shared across all social media platforms. To get involved, you paint a rock with any cool design you want and then make a sticker to put on the back of the rock. After you have painted and tagged the rock, now you hide the rock somewhere in Beaver County and wait until people post on your hashtag for social media. You can either create your own or find one of the uniquely painted rocks already placed around Beaver County.

When you have successfully found a rock, simply take a picture and put it on social media with the hashtag for that rock. After you have posted the picture, you can then rehide the rock for someone else to find.

These rocks were first started as random acts of kindness to keep a positive mental state of mind. This has been happening all across the U.S. in various cities, and it had just started up in Beaver County.

When asked about Superintendent Jeffrey Fuller findings of colored rocks on and off campus, he said, “The first one I found, I had posted to the school district Facebook page, was on the bike rack outside the middle school. It was a painted rock that had been hidden and there is actually a lot of rock hiding going on across the nation, but the was a hashtag Beaver County rocks on the back long with the group that hid the set of rocks.”

“Once you find the rocks, you are supposed to post a picture of the rock on social media so it is documented and then you are supposed to take the rock somewhere else and rehide it. I rehide it in Wexford one night when me and my wife went out to dinner. I placed the rock outside the restaurant  when we went,” he mentioned what you are supposed to do after your findings.

Fuller also mentioned how he found a painted rock over the summer on his way down to Raleigh, N. C., where his daughter is going to college. He said that when he and his family found this rock, they were pretty interested and thought it was cool to see something new, so they decided to look it up to see if it meant anything. He said that they took the rock because it was a pretty cool way to remember their daughter going off to college.

“There have been about 14-20 rocks hidden on campus. Most have been found by the track but others are scattered around all three schools,” he replied when asked how many rocks have been seen on campus.

“Mr. Edder had about 10 or so rocks in the office of the elementary school for kids to take and hide with their families,” Dr. Fuller said. Now get out there and find you own rocks.
