Raising 'cards' for breast cancer awareness: FHS cheerleaders hold 'Pink-Out' game

Pink balloons, cards and shirts, oh my! FHS cheerleaders sponsored a pink -out during the varsity football game against Ellwood City on Sept. 19 .

The cheerleaders sold pink-out shirts, and asked everyone to wear them at the football game. Captains, Senior Mariah Forsythe and Junior Daisy Ward, led the event. Along with this, shirts were a being sold at the game. At the game, various baskets and items were raffled off to the people at the game. Before the football game started, pink sheets of paper were handed out to the fans entering the stadium. Before the football team’s arrival on the field, the fans were asked to hold the papers up to for a wall of pink.

Cheerleaders wore pink-out shirts and pink socks, fans sat in the stands wearing various forms of pink and the football players wore pink arm bands and pink mouth guards. Everyone was showing their support for breast cancer victims and survivors.

Along with the papers, both the cheerleaders and their parents stood on the field with pink balloons. As the fans held the papers up, the balloons were released to raise awareness for breast cancer and for hope that one day there will be a cure.
