Freedom awards student of the month

For the Month of October, eight students were chosen as Student of the Month for the theme, “Amazing Attitude.” The students chosen were Nora Powers (9), Maliek Piersol (9), Zoey Vida (10), Troy Reynolds (10), Reese Neely (11), Alexander Micon (11), Erica Young (12) and Jordan Delon (12). On Oct. 10, the students were all recognized at the Freedom Area School board meeting by letting each student know who recommended them for the award, as well as being awarded a certificate.

Drama club announces cast list

On Oct. 22,  the high school Drama Club announced the cast list for the 2025 musical, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Christopher Denkovich (12) was cast as “Willy Wonka,” and Lainey Tuszynski (12) was cast as “Charlie Bucket.”

Community holds trick or treat for Eckman

On Oct. 14, Beaver County community members joined together to give Holden Eckman, a one year old boy with leukemia, an early Halloween. Eckman was scheduled for round two of his treatment during Halloween and the days surrounding, which would cause him to have to sit out on the trick-or-treating activites. Not wanting him to miss out on a holiday he loves, people lined the streets with costumes and candy. Dressed as a Stegosaurus, Eckman got to trick-or-treat and experience the fun of Halloween.

2 students make honors band

On Oct. 17, seven students traveled to Grove City College to audition for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 5 honors band festival. Audrey Mooney (10) and Jesse Reinhart (12) were accepted into the festival.
