STUDENTS OF THE MONTH AWARDED
High School awards Students of the Month for Dec. 2022. The theme this month was “Leadership”. Freshmen awarded were Addison Freeman and Bryson Deal, sophomores were Lainey Tuszynski and Christopher Denkovich, juniors were Brenna McIlvain and Chase Grable and seniors were Madison Sanders and Kyler Brown.
NEW CLASSES FOR 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR PLANNED
New courses have been approved for the 2023-2024 school year. Freshmen will rotate between four classes, and take one of the classes every nine weeks. The freshman classes include Freshman Fundamentals, Introduction to Art, Woodshop and Digital Media and Design. More courses have been added for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Three of which include the University of Pittsburgh College in High School (CHS) courses. The courses include CHS Biology, CHS Chemistry, CHS Psychology, Personal Finance and Physiology and Sociology.
2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR ADDS ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES
The school board approved adding 20 minutes to each school day, allowing for more educational opportunities. The elementary school will be adding ten minutes to English Language Arts and ten minutes to Math. The middle school will be adding four minutes to first period and then dividing the other 16 minutes between the other eight periods. The high school will either be adding five minutes to each block, adding ten minutes to PLT, four minutes to first block, then adding two minutes to first, second and third block.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING START TIMES CHANGED
The school board meetings on the first two Thursdays of each month now begin at 6:30, rather than 7:00.
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS APPROVED
On Dec. 8, 2022, members of the school board were approved for the following positions: Ms. Sharon Geibel has been approved for President of the School Board, and Ms. Leslie Rizzi for Vice President of the School Board.
