Correction on track line mistakes

The track will temporarily be restriped before the start of the track season due to an error when the track was put in. Once the track season is over, two layers of rubber will be added and the whole track will have to be restriped. In order to compensate for the error, the track was given an additional year of warranty.

 

High school block scheduling update

Over the past several months, the discussion of whether or not block scheduling will be kept at the high school has been a big debate. During the board meeting on Feb. 14, Superintendent Jeffrey Fuller announced that the change in scheduling would not take place next year, but discussions would take place for a change to occur in the future.

 

School safety grant put to use

Back in October, a grant was submitted to the state that would help to improve various safety concerns in the district. Since then, several improvements have been made by utilizing this grant. One improvement at the high school includes seven new cameras. At the other buildings, three new card swipe entrances at the elementary school and a “capture entry point” will be put at the middle school that allows for documentation to be passed into the office without having visitors enter the building.

 

Connor Lamb set to visit district

Representative Connor Lamb is set to come to Freedom on March 4. His visit will include a press conference with students from the FHS Press and the Bulldog Barker and a meeting with superintendents from around Beaver County.

This month’s recipient at the high school for the H.O.P.E. award was Dr. Brian Wargo for the theme of “Challenges me to be a better student.”
