Last year, Freedom Area High School faced a lot of changes, one of them being a new principal. Mr. Timothy Dadich came to Freedom Area High School with expecta-tions to help the school to “rise as one” and help the stu-dents strive to their full potential in their education.
Dadich wasted no time adding new procedures to help every student in Freedom succeed in what they wanted to do after graduating. “I really wanted to put focus on aca-demic achievements and seeking out post secondary education. Next year we want to help students learn how to get scholarships, and how to start planning for post-secondary op-tions earlier in high school, as well as fo-cusing your energy on the important things,” Dadich said.
At the beginning of the year, Dadich did not get the welcome that was expected, but as time went on the tension went down and students started to real-ize that he was helping, not hurting.
“I think Mr. Dadich is doing a great job, and even though he has made changes that some people don’t agree with, he is doing it for the good of the students… I feel like he actually takes what we have to say into consideration,” Sophomore Lau-ren Scott said.
Dadich has created AAP, which is a half hour at the end of the day designed to help students accomplish home-work that they might not be able to complete at home. And the changes aren’t stopping just this year.
“A lot of the changes that are going to happen next year have already taken place. As far as the increase num-ber of electives, we will be adding some more and working on those next year, particularly in Physical Education and possibly some Science and Social Studies elective,” Dadich said.
“I feel that Mr. Dadich is doing a phenomenal job. He has shown extraordi-nary perseverance with the bomb threats and how people treated him at the beginning of the year. He came in with the intentions of helping us be the best school we can be. With Mr. Dadich, we continue to move forward to being the best,” Senior Jenna Moore said.
“When you start any-thing you are going to have bumps along the way. There are certain things that needed to happen, but I would say overall that we are mov-ing in the right direction. I’m pleased with how the year went, and I’m pleased to be a part of this school. I think Freedom is great,” Dadich said.
