In October, Mr. Frank Hernandez went from history teacher to assistant principal. This promotion left a spot open for his history teaching position. As of right now, the position is being held by Mr. Dan Guerra, a long term substitute. “As for Mr. Hernandez’s instructional position, I’ll be meeting with the superintendent within the week to discuss whether or not we are going to contain it as a long-term sub until the end of the year and then evaluate the position, or if we want to fill it right away with the full time teacher,” Mr. Timothy Dadich said. Guerra was also the long-term substitute of Mr. Steve Tinker. “All applications from the previous position over Mr. Tinker leaving, we would be looking at just those candidates, and Mr. Guerra is one of probably 17 or 20 that we looked at,” Dadich said. There has been a lot of change going on at Freedom and finalization is near. “My personal preference is that we fill the position because one of the things that we wanted to do for the future is increase the number of electives in the subject area, and when you do that it helps to have more staff and not less,” Dadich said.
