If I ever become famous someday, I’ll have no shame in saying that I grew up outside the city of Pittsburgh. The ‘Burgh may not be up to New York’s scale, but it’s way better than most cities out there. Amazing movies (or scenes from them) have been filmed in Pittsburgh, like Adventureland, Night of the Living Dead, Slapshot, Dawn of the Dead, and Kingpin. Adventureland being the most recent, it was filmed in Kennywood (as most people can see in the preview). Michael Keaton was born in Coraopolis, although you probably will remember him better if you hear “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!” Of course, everyone knows Mr. Rogers, who was from Pittsburgh as well. Everyone knows who he is, or at least knows of the sweaters that made him so famous. I don’t understand why Pittsburgh doesn’t get more recognition then it does. If Pittsburgh really is a famous city, I am unaware of it. I don’t always hear people who dreamed of moving to Pittsburgh when they were young. I don’t understand why. I think Pittsburgh is a good city to make a living in, and I understand people want to move on to bigger and better things. Let’s face it, for some of the people out there, Pittsburgh’s as good as it’s going to get. It’s also pretty cool to come from a city that has pretty much its own language. Yinz guys (you guys), crick (creek), Gumband (rubber band), and Igl (eagle) are all words in the language we know as Pittsburghese. Oh yeah, the two Stanley Cups, six Super Bowl rings, and five World Series titles don’t hurt either.
