Dear Editor,
In your November issue of the FHS Press, I was reading the article titled “Fueled by Fear”. This article was very odd for me to hear. I couldn’t believe when it says the boy was suspended for turning himself in. If this was our school, I think that turning yourself in for bringing a knife wouldn’t be a bad thing. If you wanted to turn yourself in so you wouldn’t hurt anyone I think that’s fine! In my opinion, that school is wrong for suspending the boy because he did no wrong. Gun control is big around the world, and bringing weapons to school are a big problem, kids do it all the time. Some kids do it without realizing it, and just let it go. Others do it to intentionally hurt someone, which is wrong. The kids that turn themselves in shouldn’t get in trouble for doing what they feel is right. Some schools, I guess are just stricter than others, there’s nothing you can do about that. But I do not believe the punishment was needed to that boy, he should’ve been off of the hook. But, in the long run, I guess there is nothing you can do about it!
Sincerely,
Brittany Bionda
