Due to a heating issue at Edinboro University, the indoor track team was unable to compete this month. Their first two meets, scheduled for Jan. 4 and 25, were cancelled because the heating unit broke. This left the temperature inside the track at 10 degrees, which was barely warmer than the temperatures outside.
“The Edinboro meet cancellation saddened me to the point of tears,” Junior Josh Kugel said.
Despite the first two meets being cancelled, the team continues to practice, even if that means running on treadmills due to low temperatures outside.
“I’ve been preparing for outdoor track just by practicing for indoor. Racing at Edinboro and doing workouts will help get everyone in shape for outdoor,” Junior Kayleigh Roberts said.
The Championships are on Feb. 22, which depends on how well athletes do in regular meets. The top athletes in each event are chosen to attend the Championships. Before anyone gets to Championships, they have two more meets coming up on Feb. 1 and 15.
