Hoops and high hopes

An update on the Boys Basketball team

You’re dribbling down the court as the clock quickly counts away the time to the final second of the game. Just one more shot and you’ve won the game. The Freedom boys basketball team has come close to winning many games this season. They made their first win of the season Jan. 3 against Quigley with a winning score of 60-46.

Our goals have been to win the next game and get better every day. We have definitely worked hard and improved since the beginning of the year, and we have won two of our last three games,” head coach Jeff Griffith said.

Throughout the season, the boys have made many improvements since the beginning. Each day during practice, they make sure to continue to work hard and prepare for the next game that comes their way. Each player puts forth a large amount of time and effort towards making sure they better their team in some way.

“I couldn’t be more proud to coach this team. These guys play hard every game; I have never had to question their effort. They have a lot of heart and are starting to come together as a team,” Griffith said, concerning his views on the wellness of the team’s efforts so far this season.

There are many differences that can be looked upon when a game is lost versus when a game is won.

“The game of basketball comes down to two things: scoring and trying to stop the other team from scoring. In the games we lost they did a better job of those two things, and in the games we won we did a better job of those two things,Griffith said.

Goals are set to be achieved and this team has shown no sign in slowing down their efforts in winning their upcoming games. Regardless of whether or not the boys team takes home a win or they leave with a loss, they keep their heads up, willing to work harder for the next game.

“We will continue to prepare every day in practice to win the next game. That will be an ongoing goal,Griffith said

From the beginning of the season until the end, this team has shown that they can work together through each game played. With high hopes of the future games played, the boys set out to bring Freedom more wins each day.
