Haunted High School Returns
Drama Club Fundraiser is back after a three year absence
Halloween is here. That means pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating and haunted houses. One iconic attraction is now returning to the FHS for the first time since 2010. The Haunted High School is coming back from the dead.
After being inactive for five years, much interest has been focused on the revival of the Haunted High School. The idea came about that it would be a perfect fundraiser for the Freedom Drama Club.
The Haunted High School was open to the public on Oct. 21 from 10 p.m. to 12: 30 p.m., and on Oct. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The cost was $5 for students and $7 for adults. All proceeds benefited the Freedom Drama Club, with the funds going toward the spring musical, “Grease.”
Past themes have included, Bloody Mary, werewolves and circus.
“You can expect walking dead, circus and tunnel of darkness,” junior Dante Colorito said when asked about the themes for this year. With new themes mixed with some old, it was sure to give a good scare to anyone who dares to enter.
There are several haunted houses in the Western Pennsylvania area, but they are a decent distance away from Freedom. Freedom’s Drama Club sees this as a good way to bring a professional-styled haunted house to those who have not experience then yet.
“We are bringing an awesome haunted house that you would have to go out of town for,” Colorito said.
The Freedom Bulldog football team played prior to the doors opening at 10:00p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.
“It is not just a fundraiser for the drama club, but also to give to the community, ” Colorito said when asked about the purpose of the Haunted High School.
Everyone coming together to create an entertaining Halloween tradition that will bring a friendly scare to people is the main goal of it all.
