This season, the football team got down and dirty to bring Freedom some amazing wins. In only their second game, the team defeated Ellwood City. Later on in the season, they took down the New Brighton Lions on Homecoming night. This was the first home game win in five years and the first homecoming win in more than 10 years. The team’s favorite memory of this year was beating New Brighton in front of all of the Freedom fans at the Homecoming game. “Winning and definitely in front of the fans [was the best part],” Junior Allen Moeller said. In addition to beating New Brighton, the Bulldogs also came out on top in the game against Hopewell, beating the Triple A team 35-0. Next year, Sophomore Kahlil Character hopes a lot of people will come out to join the team, as they will be losing some good defensive players. Senior Captain Sam Beckey would like to send a shout out to the Dog Pound, “for coming to all of the games and supporting the team.” Junior Nate Lundy said the Dog Pound is most likely going to continue through next year: “It is the most fun the students have had, [they] get really into it, especially at football games.” He also said that the Dog Pound is very likely to continue at other sporting events. “The most fun thing about the Dog Pound is getting to be with your friends and scream for the team,” said Junior Matt Feits, founder of the Dog Pound. Junior Jesse Herzog said he enjoys “watching my friends obliterate the other players.” Coach Hernandez said “the Dog Pound is awesome. The rowdier they get, the better we play. Their energy fuels us.”
