Deer or deals?
Hunting on Orange Monday vs. Online Savings on Cyber Monday
To shop or to hunt, that is the conundrum that Pennsylvanians faced on Monday, Nov. 30. Deer season opened at the same time as online deals across the World Wide Web. People were torn between going out early to get a headstart on the hunting season and sitting bleary-eyed in their bed staring at the glaringly bright computer screen waiting for the cyber sales to start, credit card in hand.
A couple of thoughts run through most consumers’ heads when deciding if they will participate in Orange Monday, Cyber Monday or neither and just relax after Thanksgiving.
Many of those who go hunting on the Monday after Thanksgiving go to fill their freezers for the winter or go hunting for sport. Those against hunting on Orange Monday are usually those who are against hunting for sport in general, arguing that hunters are unnecessarily killing these animals.
Consumers who participate in Cyber Monday are generally looking for great deals for Christmas presents for others (or themselves.) However, some people don’t like shopping on Cyber Monday because they are apprehensive about online scams.
Whichever day you participate in, stay safe and don’t spend too much!
