Three years ago, Freedom introduced the brand new Bulldog Boutique, which first started off as an empty room inside the nurse’s office that had a lot of potential. Due to the collaboration between secretary Carrie Tuszynski, Guidance Secretary Alyssa Young and Principal Steven Mott, they made what was once an idea into what we now know as the Bulldog Boutique.
They utilized the empty space in the nurse’s office and turned it into something that could give back to the community. It originally started off with a few shelves and a closet in an empty room. Last school year, Tuszynski and Young decided to go through with a renovation project to help improve the organization of the boutique and the overall appearance. With approval from the school board, they made it possible.
The boutique renovation project was made possible with the help of a company called Closet Factory. Closet Factory is a company that improves any closet’s looks as well as functionality. They repainted the inside of the boutique, giving it a finished look, and installed new clothing racks and storage units for the items in the boutique. This new renovation gave the boutique a new appearance as well as giving it a more organized selection of items to make it easier for students to find what they are looking for in a shorter amount of time.
“The renovations to the boutique were awesome and we were very happy with what they did. We plan on adding more clothing and supplies for the students in the future,” Tuszynski said
The boutique’s purpose is to help students who are in need of essentials. The boutique provides necessities like sanitary products, hygiene products and clothing items in a variety of sizes, which is what makes the boutique inclusive. The boutique is stocked with these items and will accept any donations that are new or in good shape to help out. Any student who is interested and in need of any items from the boutique is able to see Tuszynski in the office or Young in the guidance office.
“We saw that there was a need and we wanted to help. Staff and students love the look of the newly renovated Bulldog Boutique. Everything is displayed in a way that it is easy to find what you are looking for,” Young said.
The boutique was created to help serve students in the community who need the help and it has lived up to that expectation, due to the help of Tuszynski and Young.
