That’s right; Freedom’s favorite reviewer is back. Let me just say, this movie brought back everything cool about airplanes ever since “Snakes on a Plane” ruined it. Being a fellow pilot, I had to go out and critique Denzel Washington in his new movie “Flight.” This was the first movie I have ever seen without having any idea what it was about before I got there, and I suggest doing that more often. It was really suspenseful having no idea what I was about to watch. First of all, this is definitely not an appropriate movie. It is rated R, but the story could have easily been told with a PG-13 rating. That part turned me off a little. If there is one thing I hate more than people complaining about high school relationships, it’s movies that have an excess amount of violence, nudity and excess profanity. I guess I should give you an overview of the movie. Basically Denzel plays a pilot with a drinking problem and a dark past. Nevertheless, he is an amazing pilot. On a normal flight from Florida to Georgia, the plain goes down, killing a few people on board. The whole movie follows Denzel through the whole ordeal. You know, him being drunk when he crashed the plane is kind of a big deal. There are certainly a few things that throw me off, like I mentioned earlier. Besides the excess nudity and drug abuse, there was one other thing I just can’t wrap my head around. The director brought a lot of religion in to the movie. You can easily tell Denzel’s character isn’t religious, but to me, it seems like the director was trying to convert everyone in the audience. It just felt like if you took the religion aspect out of the movie, it wouldn’t change the big picture. I guess you guys will just have watch the movie, then tell me if you understand why there was so much religion. Other than the amount of vulgarity, and the fact that they force religion on you, it was an excellent movie. I’d have to give it a 7 out of 10.
